Dorothy Benham
Edina, Minnesota

Dorothy has stayed actively involved with the Miss America program since her year of service. She was a featured performer and co-host for many years on the Miss America telecast and twice judged the Miss America Pageant. She has also been a state judge for Oregon, Florida, North Dakota, Georgia, and Oklahoma.

Dorothy is a lyric-coloratura soprano who made her Broadway debut as an original cast member of "Jerome Robbins" Broadway". She has been a guest artist with Symphony Orchestras throughout the country and sang the role of Sonia in the Connecticut Opera's production of The Merry Widow. She was chosen by Peter Schickele (aka PDQ Bach) for his composer showcase at Lincoln Center in New York City. Other highlights of her career have been performing with Bob Hope, Doc Severinsen, the Minnesota Orchestra and at the Bi-Centennial Celebration of the Statue of Liberty with Brooke Shields for President and Mrs. Reagan.

Dorothy has appeared at the Crystal Cathedral numerous times as a musical guest on the internationally televised broadcast The Hour of Power.

She has now released 4 CD recordings entitled "The Lord Is My Light," "Christmas," "From The Heart," and "The Crystal Cathedral Collection."

Dorothy is the mother of six, step-mother of one, mother-in-law and grandma to three and counting!
