Nicole Johnson, MA, MPH
Nicole Johnson, Miss America 1999, is an international diabetes advocate. She travels extensively promoting awareness, prevention, and early detection of the condition she has shared for fifteen years.
Nicole works as a corporate and government affairs consultant for patient groups and biotech companies, including Animas Corporation, Eli Lilly, Diabetes Wireless and Diabetes Centers of America.
Nicole recently formed the Nicole Johnson Foundation to help address the gaps in diabetes education with creativity and reality. The Foundation will also support youth programs related to diabetes education and inspiration.
Nicole continues to host the weekly CNBC diabetes talk show, dLifeTV, and writes monthly columns and articles for various diabetes print and web publications.
She has written four books including her autobiography, Living with Diabetes.
Nicole serves on numerous advisory boards including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Council of Public Representatives and the Tampa chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She is also a past national board member for the American Diabetes Association.
Over the last nine years, Nicole has helped raise approximately $20 million for diabetes research and programs.
She holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Regent University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh.
Nicole lives in Florida with her two year old daughter Ava Grace.
