Academy of Honor
The Academy of Honor was founded in 1996 to honor volunteers in the Miss America field who have provided outstanding service to the Miss America Organization at the State and National levels. One volunteer is named annually at the National Finals. A grant of a $10,000 dollar scholarship will go to the recipients State Program.
The Miss America Organization will make the determination of honorees.
Eligible volunteers are those who have served 30 years or more within the Miss America System and have significantly contributed to both the State and National levels. Submissions for consideration should be sent to the National Office no later than July 1st of each year. Submissions should include, but are not limited to, a cover letter of recommendation, nominees resume, picture of the nominee and a description of the individual. s achievements and contributions to both State and National Programs.
The Honoree(s) will be announced, if possible, at their state pageants. Thereafter, an announcement will be made by national office. Their picture will appear in one or more of the Miss America national publications.
The award must be allocated to scholarships for contestants. Further use will be determined by the honoree and his or her state program. Disbursement of funds will be handled by the Miss America Organization. Money will be held in trust for scholarship recipients, per the scholarship rules and regulations of that state.
