Matching Grant Program, Local Level
The Matching Grant Program is part of the effort by national headquarters to increase scholarship giving at all levels of competition. For each state, up to $10,000 will be allocated to assist locals in building scholarship banks.
Determination of matching funds will be made by national headquarters based on applications. Locals will receive funding on a dollar-for-dollar basis, equal to the increase in scholarship dollars raised in the current 12-month period, over and above scholarships raised the previous 12-month period. Increases may not include scholarship funds received from Miss America Organization; and are limited to an amount, which, divided among all the locals qualifying for the funds, does not exceed $10,000 per state.
Each local director will receive a Matching Fund Grant Application form from his or her state executive director. The terms are set forth in the application form.
The fiscal year for local programs runs from April 1st through March 31st. The completed application must be sent to the national office and postmarked no more than seven days following the competition. Since state funds can be exhausted, it is therefore prudent to apply as early as possible in the window of application. per the above.
All funds must be used for scholarships for contestants. Disbursements will be made to the state organization, which is required to place the funds in a special, local scholarship bank account. If the competition has already been held, the funds have to be re-distributed to the contestants that competed in that years pageant.
