MISS AMERICA 2016 “AMERICA’S CHOICE” VOTING FAQS

FOR WHAT I AM VOTING?

Fans will have the opportunity through a voting process to designate one (1) Miss America contestant as “America’s Choice,” and the designated contestant will receive a place in the semi-finals of the 2016 Miss America Pageant (the “Fan Choice Contestant”).

WHEN CAN I VOTE?

You can vote for the Fan Choice Contestant starting August 10, 2015, at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) and continuing until September 10, 2015, at 11:59:59 p.m. EST (the “Voting Period”).

HOW DO I VOTE?

There are two ways for you to cast votes for the Fan Choice Contestant: (1) via Twitter by mentioning a specific key word and official hashtag in a tweet published on your Twitter account, and/or (2) via Facebook by mentioning a specific key word and official hashtag in a status update posted to your Facebook page or wall. Both voting methods are further described below:

HOW MANY TIMES MAY I VOTE?

You may cast one (1) Tweet Vote and one (1) FB Vote per day.

WHO CAN VOTE?

Anyone with a valid Facebook or Twitter account can vote regardless of location. You must have a Facebook account to vote on Facebook or a Twitter account to vote on Twitter.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO VOTE?

Voting is free except for standard internet access charges which may apply if you are using a web browser or standard data charges which may apply if you are voting via your mobile device.

HOW DO I FIND OUT THE RESULTS?

The Fan Choice Contestant will be announced during the live broadcast of the 2016 Miss America Pageant television special, scheduled for September 13, 2015, at 9/8c on ABC. Check your local listings for more information about show times.

WHY DO I NEED A TWITTER ACCOUNT OR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT TO VOTE ONLINE?

Logging into your Facebook account and/or to your Twitter account to vote online is a key security feature to guard against voting fraud.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE VOTING PROCESS?

Any attempt to deliberately undermine, circumvent, or manipulate the legitimate operation of the vote process is strictly prohibited, including, without limitation, use of fraudulent, robotic, or ghost Twitter accounts, use of multiple email addresses to set up multiple Twitter or Facebook accounts, and/or automated voting scripts, programs, or macros (not including legitimate third-party software that enables the scheduling of tweets, posts or status updates such as HootSuite or TweetDeck). We reserve the right to disqualify the votes from any individuals/entities we suspect or find: (a) to have engaged in manipulated and/or inauthentic voting practices; (b) to have tampered with the voting process; or (c) to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person. The Miss America Organization and dick clark productions are not responsible for technical, hardware, software, or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost, or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled, or delayed electronic communications or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the voting process or by any human error which may occur in the tabulation of votes.

HOW IS MY VOTE COUNTED?

The total number of votes submitted during the Voting Period will be tabulated, and the contestant who receives the highest total number of valid votes (including both Tweet Votes and FB Votes) and who is not otherwise selected to participate in the semi-finals by the judges will be declared the Fan Choice Contestant. If the voting process is interrupted for any reason, is found to have been tampered with in any way, or for any other reason that we believe to be reasonably necessary (for example, in instances of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical or system failures or disruption, 'acts of God' or terrorist attacks, or any other causes beyond our control), we reserve the right to select the “America’s Choice” winner and may take into consideration the number of votes received by any contestant up until the time of the interruption or cancelation of the voting process.

IS THE MISS AMERICA ORGANIZATION AFFILIATED WITH FACEBOOK AND TWITTER?

No. Although you may use Facebook and Twitter in the voting process, the Miss America Pageant is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook or Twitter. Inquiries (whether questions, comments or complaints) should be directed to info@telescope.tv, not to Facebook or Twitter.
