Miss America Organization to Award Millions in In-kind Tuition Scholarships and Over $113,000 in Scholarships During Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition Week in Dallas

SEWELL, New Jersey. (August 2022) – The Miss America Organization, the nation’s oldest women’s competition and one of the first organizations in the United States to offer college scholarships to women, is proud to announce it will award over $113,250 in scholarships to bright young ladies from all 50 states and the District of Columbia at its Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition happening in Dallas, TX August 8-12. The competition will culminate with the crowning of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2023.

Reinforcing the motto of “top scholarship provider for women,” the 51 candidates competing for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen are also being offered multiple full scholarships worth millions of dollars from seven universities including, University of Alabama, Dakota State University, Hollins University, Rowan University, Sherman College of Chiropractic, Troy University and West Virginia University. The Miss America Organization awards more than $5 million in cash scholarships each year and millions more in-kind per year through national, state, and local programs. In December 2021 alone, the total cash bestowed to the 51 candidates at the Miss America competition reached a historic high, totaling $435,500.

“We look forward to welcoming candidates to Dallas as we prepare to crown our next Miss America’s Outstanding Teen,” said Shantel Krebs, Chair of the Board and Interim President and CEO. “With 74% of student loan debt in the United States carried by women, the Miss America Organization is proud to continue its long tradition of providing scholarships for young women to further their education.”

Tickets are currently on sale for preliminary night competitions on Wednesday, August 10 and Thursday, August 11 and the final competition on Friday, August 12. In attendance will be Emma Broyles, Miss America 2022 and current Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Marcelle LeBlanc. Additionally, the entire Miss America class of 2022 will be in Dallas on Saturday, August 13 for orientation to prepare for the Miss America Competition in December 2022.
